Advanced Card Systems Ltd

The AET60 (BioCARDKey) and AET63 (BioTRUSTKey) devices introduced on this page are by no means new products. They are now well proven products launched in 2003 and 2004 respectively. What is exciting to us is that in the last 12 months or so, the demand of such finger print devices has increased substantially. Many companies have adopted these products in a big variety of applications. However, many emerging application providers asked us their first question: What are the differences between AET60 and AET63? Hence this newsletter focuses on answering this question.

Having a smart card reader with a silicon fingerprint sensor, both AET60 and AET63 not only bring conveniences but also security to users. First, with anyone of the devices, the users need not remember any long and complicated password since fingerprints, which cannot be lost, duplicated, stolen or forgotten, already serve as a safe and unique password. Second, their fingerprint templates are stored inside their smart cards instead of the PC. This eliminates their privacy concerns. What is more, it gives users the flexibility of being able to carry their fingerprint template with them, safe in the knowledge that no-one else can use their smart card should it be lost or stolen.
